Samsung SGH A777 is designed with measures 1.9 x 0.6 x 3.9 inches and 3.4 oz weight, thin enough with a sliding face that hides the alphanumeric keypad. It doesn’t have a firm thumb grip for opening the phone, so if we didn’t pushed at the right spot, our finger kept slipping to the navigation controls.

SGH A777 provides really too few buttons, on the front face only a central OK button and two soft keys, where is the Talk and End/power buttons? We have to open the slide each time we receive phone calls. The keypad has backlighting, but buttons are not spacious enough. Keypad like that could make many mistakes, when typing texts or dialing phone numbers. A microSD card slot, a music player key, and a control that opens a pop-up shortcut on the home screen are placed on the right side. A volume rocker and a proprietary headset jack/charger port are on the left side.

Its 2 inches display produces 262,000 colors (220×176 pixels) and some arrangement with the brightness, the backlighting time, and dialing font size, type and color. The menus are available in grid or list styles. Some features such as a vibrate mode, text and multimedia messaging, a speakerphone, a voice recorder, a calendar, a task list, a notepad, a calculator, a world clock, a unit and currency converter, a timer, a stopwatch, and a tip calculator. On the higher-end, we get USB mass storage, a YellowPages Mobile app, instant messaging, PC syncing for photos and music, and Web-based POP3 e-mail.

The music player supports many kind of file formats (MP3, AAC, eAAC+ and WMA) and also offers useful features, such as album art, playlists, and shuffle and repeat modes. Some music-related features such as XM Radio Mobile, a Music ID application, a Billboard Mobile channel, music videos, and a community section with access to fan sites and downloads.

Photo quality was great for level 1.3-megapixel shooter. Colors were relatively bright and our images were in focus. The phone must be open when taking pictures. The SGH-A777 can be make up with a variety of background colors, wallpapers and a personalized greeting. Call quality and speakerphone was not too good and not too bad, but Bluetooth headset could help a little.
