The 9 megapixel Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5 is equipped with a 3-inch LCD, a 10x zoom lens, a 28mm-equivalent wide-angle view, a 1280×720-pixel resolution movie-capture mode, an optical image stabilizer and many useful features. It measures is 4.1 in x 1.5 in x 2.3 in (WxDxH) and 7.5 oz weight.

The TZ5 has two burst-shooting modes, a standard and Free. The TZ5 needs 2.4 seconds to take a shoot from the start, 0.7 seconds for focus and snap in optimal conditions, and 1 seconds in lower contrast circumstances. Time to take shot to shot is 2.1 seconds without flash and 2.5 seconds with flash.

Aggressive smoothing reduces detail in indoor shots, even at low ISO sensitivities, wrong place for the microphone, the TZ5 often insisted on refocusing just before shooting even after has been prefocused.
