The 10 megapixel Lumix DMC-FX500 features too many modes, shooting abilities, and controls, such as settings for color effects, sharpness, color, and noise reduction. It is designed with metal and plastic body with a 3 inch touch screen LCD, a joystick and buttons. An on/off switch is placed on top next to the shutter release and surrounding ring for setting the 5x optical zoom.
It measures is 3.7 in x 0.9 in x 2.2 in (WxDxH) and 5.5 oz weight. The FX500 has a switch to choose between shooting, playback, mode, display, and context sensitive Quick Menu buttons. The Mode button makes the screen filled with recording options. In the Aperture priority, Shutter priority, or Manual modes makes the onscreen sliders appear for quick making adjustments. Touch AF allows us to choose the object by touching it on the display and then the camera will focus and track the object.
Some available features are manual modes common to digital SLRs in addition to multiple options for exposure, light metering, focus, continuous shooting, and the ability to set restrictions on ISO sensitivity and shutter speed. It needs 0.8 seconds in bright conditions and 1 second in lower conditions, 2.5 seconds from awake to the first shoot, 2.2 seconds from shot to shot, and 2.6 seconds with flash on.
