I’m impressed with this smartphone. This one has 3.7 inches touch screen WVGA display, supported by 16 million hues and 440×854 pixels resolution. This display is bright and brilliant with vibrant colors and sharp graphics, and also lends itself well to the welcome Android 2.0 interface updates.

The capacitive display’s touch interface is quick and responsive and it has extra multitouch capability. The vibrating feedback only for certain functions, such as for a long press. Some settings are for the display’s brightness, backlighting time, accelerometer, haptic feedback, and animations.

Four touch controls below the display are used for Back, Home, Search, and Menu. The real buttons are only for a volume rocker and a camera shutter on the left spine. The letters on the keys are large and backlit for dialing in the dark. Android 2.0 offers a better dictionary that includes contacts names. The Micro-USB port is used for a USB cable, the charger, and to connect the Droid with the multimedia dock.

The Droid now offers native Microsoft Exchange synchronization out of the box for e-mail, calendar, and contacts, in addition to support for Gmail and POP3 and IMAP accounts. Note that only Exchange and Gmail offer push delivery, while POP3 and IMAP messages are retrieved at user-specified time intervals, starting at every 5 minutes up to every hour. With Android 2.0, the messages from various accounts can be displayed in one unified in-box. The messages are color-coded by each account. This function also can be customized.

The calendar are consisted of corporate calendar and personal one. The corporate calendar is full featured in that we can send messages to meeting attendees, see who has RSVP’d to an event, and/or create our own invites and have it all synced back to your PC. Android 2.0 improved the Web browser, so it now supports HTML5. Now the browser feels faster with a cortex A8 processor and support for Verizon’s EV-DO Rev. The Droid’s browser doesn’t have Flash Lite support, but it have a plug-in that will support Adobe’s Flash 10 player when it’s available. There’re also some big points, such as the refurbished browser interface that includes bookmark thumbnails.

The Motorola Droid is equipped with GPS/A-GPS, with the new voice-guided, text-to-speech directions, instead of just text-based instructions, on Google Maps. FREE. Google Maps also offers layered maps with traffic data, satellite view, and Google Latitude. The built-in media player supported for MP3, AAC, AMR-NB, WAV, MIDI, and Windows Media Audio 9 formats and the player includes shuffle, repeat, and playlist creation. Too bad it has no syncing software to help manage and transfer music, we have to use the old drag-and-drop method using the USB cable or sideload them using a microSD card.

Music quality was quite good with the 3.5 millimeter headphone jack. It has a nice balance between treble and bass. The phone’s speakers have plenty of volume and good audio.

The Droid also equipped by a nifty digital clock interface with instant access to local weather, the media player, the photo gallery, and the alarm clock. The 5-megapixel camera takes pictures in three resolutions and boasts a slick user interface. Some extra settings are four white balance settings, several “scene” modes (night, landscape, sunset, and so on), three image quality choices, an autofocus, a macro setting, and seven color effects. The Droid also has a dual-LED flash.

Plus :

The Motorola Droid have an impressed display and used perfectly Android 2.0, such as a faster Web browser, Google Maps Navigation app, and great messaging and contact management. It has no lag time

Minus :

The QWERTY keyboard feels flat. It has no real dial button, standard music and video quality. Dual-mode functionality for world-roaming capabilities would have been a nice addition.
