A new product from microsoft that can be used instead of Apple iPod. The back of this Zune is now coloured black instead and it’s face covered with a glossy plastic. This glossy cover couse more prone to smudges and scratches. The Zune’s primary purpose is high-quality portable music player, so a new menu items for Games and Marketplace have been added alongside existing selections for Music, Videos, Pictures, Social, Radio, Podcasts, and Settings. It holds as many as 30,000 songs, 25,000 pictures, or 375 hours of video. With so much room, it’s ideal for DJs, collectors, and widescreen video junkies who love their music videos, TV shows, and video podcasts to go.
The Marketplace menu option allows you to search, view, and download music directly from the Microsoft Zune Marketplace online store. Within the Marketplace submenu you can choose between browsing Top Songs, Top Albums, and New Releases, or search for specific music by keying in a few letters. The song can be previewed for 30 seconds with the option to add to the virtual cart or purchase and download directly. By registering for the Microsoft Zune Pass music subscription service (free 14-day trial is available), you can download unlimited music to the Zune for a flat fee of $ 15 per month. If not, you will need to purchase songs a la carte by setting up a payment account in the Zune desktop software.

A new feature inside Zune called Channels offers a podcast-like automatic rotation of new music playlist. Channels are sorted by genre, affiliation (Grand Ole Opry, Fader Magazine), or type (Billboard Top 20). FM player supports Radio Broadcast Data System (RBDS) which lets your view detailed station and song information. Two games, Hexic and Texas Hold ‘Em, are included with the Version 3.0 Zune firmware.
